DLS Tools

DOSECC has designed and built a suite of coring tools specifically for use in lake drilling. These tools have now also been used to collect core in shallow marine projects. These tools can be deployed by wireline and conveniently changed to accommodate changing lithologies. The tool set contains the following:

  • Shelby (Push) Tube
  • Hydraulic Piston Core (HPC)
  • Extended Shoe, Non-rotating
  • Extended Core Bit, Rotating (The Alien)
  • Diamond Core Bit (mining)
  • Non-Sampling Assembly

DOSECC Lake Coring System (DLS)

  • Hole diameter:       5.50 in.     139.7 mm.
  • Liner core (ODP):   2.612 in.    66    mm.
  • Liner core (Alien):  2.40 in.       61    mm.

Outer Tube with Extended Core Bit, Rotating (The Alien)

Bits (from Left to Right): The Alien, the outer barrel bit, and the non-sampling inner bit.
